Woman rescued from tourist hotspot

RACQ LifeFlight Rescue was called upon to airlift a 51-year-old tourist on 12 July after she fell down a steep walking track.

Australian air rescue service RACQ LifeFlight Rescue was called upon to airlift a 51-year-old tourist on 12 July after she fell down a steep walking track whilst heading to popular tourist destination Indian Head at Fraser Island. The service’s Bundaberg-based helicopter was able to land close to the victim, who had sustained fractures on her lower right leg, said RACQ LifeFlight Rescue.

The crew and bystanders lifted the woman onto a stretcher before carrying her into the chopper. She was then transported to Bundaberg Base Hospital in a stable condition, said the service.
