Metro Aviation has announced the completed delivery of an EC145e helicopter to Hartford Hospital LIFE STAR, an air ambulance and critical care service based in Connecticut, US.
“It’s important that we standardise our fleet and the EC145e is a great addition,” said Dr Lauri Bolton, Medical Director of Hartford Hospital LIFE STAR. “We wanted more space, system redundancy and modern workload reducers not available on our current aircraft. This new helicopter checks all of those boxes for us.”
Metro Aviation says that the new aircraft boasts several improvements over the service’s current aircraft, including modern airframe and an expected 20-year life cycle. It also has a greater weight capacity to carry more fuel, autopilot, in-cockpit weather reporting and increased interior space. However, it is also compatible with the service’s existing equipment. “We’ll use the same LOX Cylinders and the same stretcher between our new aircraft and our EC145, so everything will work well together,” said Bolton.
The aircraft is the second EC145e that Metro Aviation has delivered.
