Metro Aviation delivers new helicopter to AirMed
Metro Aviation has announced that it has delivered an EC145e helicopter to University of Utah Health AirMed programme in the US.
Helicopter fitter and repair specialist Metro Aviation has announced that it has delivered the first EC145e helicopter (from a unit order of 25) to University of Utah Health AirMed programme in the US.
The helicopter was completed at Metro’s completion centre in Shreveport, Louisiana. The aircraft was fitted with mission-specific equipment that will be able to cope with the hot weather, high altitudes and avalanche rescues that it will encounter while being utilised by AirMed. Metro added that the aircraft also contains standard air ambulance equipment, which AirMed plans to utilise for mechanical circulatory support and bariatric support.
“We’re excited about the increased capabilities of this aircraft. It will be stationed at our Park City base, so having the increased lift is what we’re most excited about,” said AirMed Programme Manager Frankie Toon. “This aircraft will also give us over-water capabilities, which increases our straight-line distance.”
The new aircraft replaces the service’s Bell 407, while joining its existing fleet of two PC-12s, three BH 407s and an IFR-equipped EC145.
From its Louisiana base, Metro Aviation provides completion services for all mission types, with specific specialty on EC135 and EC145 helicopters, as well as being an FAA-approved repair station.
