Helicopter services provider Ultimate Heli has announced that it has deployed two Bell 412EP helicopters to South Sudan in order to aid humanitarian efforts being carried out in the country.
Both helicopters were deployed to Juba and are being utilised in the region by the International Red Cross. The company said it was proud to be able to provide support.
Shaun Roseveare, CEO of Ultimate Heli, stated: “We have had ad hoc humanitarian operations in South Sudan for the past five years, and we are delighted that we will be able to expand our business to provide much needed humanitarian support in South Sudan for the Red Cross on a permanent basis.”
Civil war has raged through South Sudan since 2013 and does not look like stopping any time soon. Starvation among the population has led to the creation of one of the largest refugee camps in the world. The International Red Cross works to distribute supplies, provide medical assistance and acts as a neutral intermediary in the country.
