Global Medical Response company Guardian Flight has acquired Sunrise Air Ambulance (Sunrise), a move which gives Guardian Flight operational control of the air ambulance’s four air medical transport bases in Arizona, US.
Headquartered in Show Low, Arizona, Sunrise has a fixed-wing and rotor-wing operation in the region, as well as fixed-wing operations in Springerville and Safford. And the acquisition brings Guardian Flight’s total number of dedicated air medical aircraft in Arizona up to nine – the additional bases being in Chinle, Kayenta, Window Rock and Yuma.
Sunrise CEO/Programme Director Dr Mike Hayes said: "Now that Sunrise is a part of Guardian Flight's air medical operations, our presence in the state will grow even stronger as we are now able to take advantage of its market strength in the region."
Randy Lyman, Senior Vice-President of Operations at Guardian Flight, added: “We welcome the tremendously experienced and professionally trained Sunrise team of flight and medical providers to Guardian Flight.” He continued: "Adding Sunrise's eastern Arizona bases strengthens our footprint within the state as we begin working more closely with Mount Graham Medical Center, Summit Healthcare, and White Mountain Regional Medical Center."
