Welsh aviation firm Resource Group has rescued a small dog called Cherry after she became trapped down a mine shaft in Cwimtillery, Blaenau Gwent, Wales. The dog had been trapped for five days before being spotted by one of the group’s UAVs on 20 March.
Resource Group said it used its Falcon 8 drone fitted with a thermal camera to locate the Chihuahua-Pom cross. A heat source was found using the UAV which helped direct ground rescue teams to the location. Cherry was then dug out of an old mining shaft by one of Resource Group’s pilots.
Resource Group worked in conjunction with the RSPCA, Gwent Police and the South West Fire and Rescue Service.
