Mexican Navy airlifts helicopter crash victims
On 3 August, the Mexican Navy (SEMAR) airlifted two seriously injured victims of a helicopter crash 370 km (230 miles) southeast of Puerto Chiapas. The men had been flying onboard a Robinson helicopter operated from the Conquista tuna fishing vessel when it crashed into the sea.After the alarm was raised, Navy patrol vessel Durango deployed a Panther helicopter with medical crew member to rescue the victims. They were flown to Tapachula Air Force Base to reach specialist care, although one of the men one died during the transfer due to severity of his injuries.
