RFDS plane arrives after epic six-day journey
The RFDS new fleet addition has landed in its base in Bankstown, New South Wales, Australia after a six-day journey.
The Royal Flying Doctors Service’s (RFDS) new fleet addition has landed in its base in Bankstown, New South Wales, Australia after a six-day journey from Des Moines, Iowa, US.
The Beechcraft B250 King Air is the first of its kind for the service, the RFDS says. It will be used to transport doctors, dentists, nurses, mental health team members and other RFDS health professionals into remote areas of rural Australia in order to run primary healthcare clinics.
The aircraft is being made ready for duty, with the service’s engineering, safety and aviation teams making the necessary changes. The plane’s journey saw it make stops in US state of Alaska, before heading to Russia, Japan and Indonesia before finally touching down in New South Wales.
