Northland Rescue Helicopters flight nurse Janet Baker explains her job working in the intensive care unit at Whangarei Hospital, New Zealand. Her day often starts on the ground in the hospital, but she – and the other flight nurses that work in her department – can be called to carry out a patient transfer at any time.
Baker has been part of the service since it started in 1988, and says that over the years, it has got ‘busier, bigger, better’.
