Aerocool Rescue Helicopter acquires H145
The new rotorcraft will improve the safety of crew and allow the organization to respond in poor weather conditions
The New Zealand-based Aerocool Rescue Helicopter has received delivery of an Airbus H145 twin-engine helicopter.
The service, which provides air rescue operations in the Bay of Plenty region, stated that the new helicopter would be a “game changer”. The aircraft will replace a Kawasaki BK117 previously used by the organization.
Aerocool Rescue Helicopter was previously known as TECT Rescue Helicopter until November 2022, when it rebranded following a change of sponsor.
“With advanced avionic technology and increased cabin space, our ability to respond to critical situations has been significantly enhanced,” said Liam Brettkelly, Base Manager and Pilot at Aerocool Rescue Helicopter.
The H145 boasts a number of autopilot capabilities that were previously not available to Aerocool Rescue Helicopter, allowing a number of manual tasks previously performed by the pilot to be automated. The system will also offer increased safety to crews flying in poor weather conditions.
“We are proud to serve the Bay of Plenty coastal region with this top-of-the-line aircraft and are thankful to our community and sponsors for making this happen,” added Brettkelly.
Australian helicopter operator Microflite also ordered a second H145 last month, in response to growing demand for its services.
