The aircraft was on a mission to transfer a patient to Oklahoma City when it crashed into a field near Weatherford

An air ambulance helicopter operated by Air Evac Lifeteam crashed at around 23:23 hrs near the city of Weatherford, Oklahoma, on Saturday 20 January.

The aircraft was carrying three people onboard at the time, all of whom were confirmed to have perished.

Air Evac Lifeteam said in a Facebook post that the Oklahoma control center had lost contact with the helicopter after it transferred a patient to Oklahoma City, and the aircraft was later found in a field.

The organization has confirmed that it will not release the names of those killed in the crash at the present time.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is currently being undertaken by the US National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).

Air Evac Lifeteam announced the establishment of a new air ambulance base in Decatur, Illinois in October 2023.
