Alberta government signs new 10-year contract with STARS air ambulance
The new contract will be valued at CA$15 million per year over the course of the next decade
Canada’s Shock Trauma Air Rescue Services (STARS) renewed its public-private partnership with the Alberta government on Tuesday to provide Albertans, particularly those in rural and remote communities, with an EMS system that responds effectively to medical emergencies.
Premier of the province Danielle Smith commented: “Through STARS, we are better able to connect Albertans in rural and remote communities to critical healthcare services, improving patient outcomes and providing assurance to families.
“This new agreement means Albertans can rely on another 10 years of the iconic red helicopters with their highly skilled medical professionals responding to crises wherever they happen.”
STARS recently trialed a virtual care program in partnership with the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA).
