Astronautics equips Life Link III AW119 fleet with AeroSync connectivity
Connectivity upgrade allows air medical crews to transmit patient data and coordinate with hospitals in real time during critical care helicopter transports
Astronautics Corporation of America has equipped the Life Link III helicopter fleet with its AeroSync Mission connectivity system, enabling continuous in-flight internet access to support critical care transport operations across the US Upper Midwest.
The installation has been completed as an aftermarket upgrade on Life Link III’s Leonardo AW119 helicopters, which provide rapid air medical transport for patients needing urgent access to specialist hospitals across Minnesota, Wisconsin, and surrounding regions.
Astronautics’ AeroSync Mission connectivity system delivers in-air, air-to-ground, and on-ground Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity through a secure wireless hotspot designed to meet original equipment manufacturer (OEM)-level cybersecurity, quality, and reliability standards.
For air ambulance crews, the system enables faster information sharing with receiving hospitals, allowing trauma teams to access patient data before the aircraft lands. The company says this improves coordination and helps ensure medical teams are fully prepared when the patient arrives.
Life Link III is also using the connectivity to run Playback Health, an ambient clinical documentation platform that automates dictation and streamlines medical record creation during missions. Additional capabilities enabled by the system include patient data exchange, telehealth applications, and a backup communications channel in case of radio failure.
Astronautics supports operators with a subscription-based cellular data plan offering global connectivity through international service providers, while optional features include video streaming, data collection, and engine diagnostics.
Life Link III recently announced a new base in Duluth, Minnesota.
