The new contract includes the opening and operation of a new base on the island of Fuerteventura

Aviation services provider Avincis has been awarded a new contract for the provision of air ambulance services to Spain’s Canary Islands.

Avincis will provide all aviation crew to support the use of the service’s three EC145 C2 helicopters.

The company has provided services to the islands for over 20 years, and the new agreement with the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) healthcare service will extend this into the future.

The deal will also expand the scale of operations with a new, third base, located on the island of Fuerteventura.

The new base will operate alongside its existing ones in Gran Canaria and Tenerife, and is expected to significantly strengthen emergency response capabilities for residents and visitors in the archipelago’s eastern regions.

“This new contract reinforces our long-standing partnership with SUC and underscores our shared commitment to safeguarding communities through fast, high-quality emergency medical response,” said Avincis Group CEO John Boag.

German emergency air ambulance operator DRF Luftrettung was recently awarded a new contract to continue its operations from two bases in the state of Saxony.
