The air ambulance operator has had its contract renewed for operations from its bases in Dresden and Bautzen

German emergency air ambulance operator DRF Luftrettung has been awarded a new contract to continue its operations from two bases in the state of Saxony.

The contract covers the continuation of operations from air bases in Dresden and Bautzen,  beginning from 2027, when the current contract is due to expire.

The new contract will also see operating hours extended from the Dresden base, from 07:00 hrs until either sunset or 19:00 hrs, depending on which is earlier.

“We would like to thank the Free State of Saxony for its trust in DRF Luftrettung and look forward to continuing to strengthen patient care through air rescue in the future,” said Dr Krystian Pracz, CEO of DRF Luftrettung.

He added: “We particularly welcome the extension of the operating hours of our Christoph 38 station in Dresden. The fact that the Free State of Saxony is now taking this step and that our Dresden air rescuers can also be alerted after sunset in the autumn and winter months is an important step forward in the interests of the population.”

DRF Luftrettung recently completed its fleet-wide aircraft renewal, following the delivery of an H145 to its base in Stuttgart.
