Belgium will procure 17 Airbus H145M helicopters on behalf of its army and national police force, under a contract awarded on 17 June

The contract was signed between Belgium, Airbus Helicopters, and the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA). It covers the provision of 15 helicopters for the Belgian Army, and two for the Federal Police.

Additionally, the contract includes options for three more police aircraft of the same type.

The H145M is powered by two Turbomeca Arriel 2E engines equipped with full authority digital engine control (FADEC). The cockpit features a Helionix digital avionics suite with four-axis autopilot.

The H145M has a cruise speed of 241km/h when operating at a maximum takeoff weight of 3,800kg, and has a maximum range of 637km, with an endurance of 3hrs 30mins. In standard configuration it can carry two pilots and 10 passengers.

Brunei ordered a fleet of six H145Ms for its air force last month.
