BRINC launches first responder drone solution

The solution comprises BRINC’s new Responder drone; a charging station capable of fully recharging a unit within 40 minutes; and the company’s LiveOps teleoperations platform.

BRINC said that its drones are able to reach emergency calls in under 70 seconds, providing situational awareness to first responders ahead of their arrival on scene.

The drone is equipped with a 40x high-definition visual camera array, and a 640-pixel thermal sensor, allowing the aircraft to aid firefighting and search and rescue efforts. It also features red and blue lights and an integrated siren to make it identifiable as a public safety asset.

The drones are also capable of delivering medical supplies – such as EpiPens, automated external defibrillators (AEDs), personal flotation devices, and naloxone. Meanwhile, its two-way communication capability allows low-priority calls to be addressed without the need to dispatch personnel.

BRINC estimated that its DFR solution can resolve around a quarter of all calls for service, without the need to dispatch officers.

The company stated its Responder system was intended to address the “disjointed” execution of earlier public safety drone systems – what it called the “piecing together of generic hardware and software”. BRINC has a strong history of providing devices such as its Lemur 2 and Ball drones to public safety agencies across the USA.
