Canadian C4ISR Mission Software firm CarteNav, in partnership with Diamond Aircraft and Sentient Vision Systems, recently hosted a live broadcast recapping and discussing a recent mission in the North Sea that saw 24 migrants saved after being adrift for 48 hours

This widely attended broadcast was hosted and moderated by CarteNav’s Trevor Bradley, Director of Marketing, and featured Mario Speigel, Sales Manager of Special Mission Aircraft from Diamond Aircraft, Gavin Edwards, Senior Integration Engineer from Sentient Vision systems, and also from CarteNav, Scott Richardson VP of Product.

Kicking off the broadcast was a breakdown of the day’s events and what lead to getting the call from the Belgian coast guard. Gavin, who was onboard the Diamond DA42 MPP aircraft during the rescue, recounted the demonstration-turned-mission having only been given a broad search area in the North Sea. Mario discussed the features of the special mission platform that enabled an effective mission, notably the DA42’s efficiency. ViDAR from Sentient Vision Systems was responsible for the quick location of the target, which with the Trakka EO/IR camera, was housed under one mission system – AIMS-ISR.

“The broadcast went really well, and we were pleased to offer a peek behind the operator’s curtain, an opportunity not usually available to those not directly involved in the mission,” said Trevor Bradley, Director of Marketing at CarteNav. “This collaborative approach to a broadcast provided the audience multiple different perspectives to the range of technology and expertise that go into performing a mission like this. We at CarteNav are excited to bring this approach to future broadcasts with our partners.”

The broadcast has been made available on demand and can be viewed here: https://cartenav.com/events/north-sea-search-and-rescue-demo/
