CHC Helicopter expands EMS into South America with new Petrobras contract
The new contract will bring dedicated offshore emergency medical services operations to Brazil for the first time, expanding CHC Helicopter’s global emergency medical capabilities
CHC Helicopter has announced a new five-year contract with state-owned energy company Petrobras to provide emergency medical services (EMS) for offshore personnel in Brazil – marking CHC’s first EMS contract award in the country.
Under the agreement, the company will deliver dedicated medical transport services to ensure that workers requiring urgent medical attention can be safely transferred from offshore installations to onshore medical facilities, receiving expert care throughout the flight.
Starting in October 2027, CHC will operate a specially configured AW139 helicopter from Cabo Frio Airport. The aircraft will be equipped with two stretchers and advanced life support systems, enabling in-flight stabilization and critical care for patients during transport.
CHC and Petrobras have a well-established partnership. CHC currently provides crew change services across multiple offshore sites and has been recognized for the second consecutive year as Petrobras’ top provider for Operational Excellence in Offshore Transportation, reflecting CHC’s commitment to safety and consistent performance.
“Our team is proud to bring CHC’s world-class EMS capabilities to South America,” said Licia Rocha, Sales Director – Americas, CHC Helicopter. “This contract reflects the growing demand for integrated, high-quality medical transport services in offshore environments, and the strength of our partnership with Petrobras.
“We’re committed to supporting the health and wellbeing of offshore workers, delivering safe, reliable, and critical services in the minutes that matter most.”
CHC Helicopters recently announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Namibia’s Court Helicopters.
