Classic Air Medical opens second Los Alamos base
The new base will open in the US state of New Mexico at Los Alamos County Airport on 1 May
The base will be home to a Bell 407 GXi, and will complement the work of Classic’s existing base at the Los Alamos Medical Center (LAMC), which is home to an aircraft of the same type. It will be staffed by its own team of pilots, critical care flight nurses and medics.
The new base will respond to callouts on a 24/7 basis, providing patient transfers between hospitals, on-scene emergency aid, and search and rescue both within New Mexico and further afield if needed. Its establishment comes in response to growing demand in the north of the state.
“We are excited to open our new base in northern New Mexico,” said Classic Air Medical CEO Tony Henderson, speaking to the Los Alamos Daily Post newspaper. “This new base will allow us to provide critical care air medical services to more patients in the communities.”
Classic Air Medical previously opened a new base at the Cassia Regional Hospital in Burley, Idaho, in February 2022.
