Coptersafety acquired by MML Keystone to support future expansion

MML Keystone has become the majority owner of Coptersafety, a helicopter pilot simulator training provider based in Helsinki, Finland. The investment will see MML Keystone take a controlling stake while the existing management team remains in place and continues to lead the business.

Training operations will continue without interruption at Coptersafety’s Helsinki facility, which serves helicopter operators from around the world. The center operates five Level D full flight simulators and holds approvals from multiple aviation authorities, including the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), and Transport Canada.

Coptersafety is planning to expand its Helsinki site, with additional Level D simulators expected to come online in 2027 and 2028, subject to regulatory approvals and scheduling. The expansion is intended to increase training capacity as demand for simulator-based helicopter training continues.

Sharand Maharaj, Co-Managing Partner of MML Keystone, described Coptersafety as “a scarce piece of safety infrastructure in European aviation”, adding that the firm was impressed by “outstanding and consistent operator respect for the training quality and the caliber of the team”.

MML Keystone is investing alongside Coptersafety’s management, which will retain a significant shareholding. Sentica Partners, which has supported the company since 2015, will exit its investment following a period of growth for the training provider.

Coptersafety recently placed an order for a new AW139 Level D full flight simulator with TRU Simulation.
