Countdown to the 5th DRF Luftrettung HHO Symposium

On 10–11 June 2026, the DRF Luftrettung Operation Center at Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden Airport will host the fifth International Helicopter Hoist Operation (HHO) Symposium, welcoming specialists from around the world. The event will focus on disaster management in HHO, bringing together experts from hoist manufacturers, operators, and training providers to discuss the latest trends and innovations. Registration remains open.

The two-day program combines presentations, practical demonstrations, and a compact exhibition, offering professionals from operations, original equipment manufacturers, and government agencies a platform to exchange knowledge and insights. Topics include flight operations, medical and maintenance considerations, training, safety, and communication, providing a comprehensive view of HHO.

“Participants will also take a closer look at tactical procedures such as multi-ship HHO, as well as cross-organizational cooperation with other companies and authorities – including in disaster response and special operational scenarios,” said Sebastian Schneider, Chief Hoist Instructor. “And, of course, we will once again address the topic of next-generation hoists.”

Since its launch in 2021, the Symposium has become a leading European event for hoist professionals. This year, the emphasis remains on sharing operational experience and improving safety standards, guided by the overarching principle of safe hoist operation.

DRF Luftrettung recently announced the completion of its fleet renewal program, with all bases now flying Airbus H135s and H145 D3 helicopters.
