Dallas Avionics to host aircrew radio problem-solving course

A practical training course will guide aircrews in troubleshooting radios, optimizing settings, and improving communication reliability during operations

Dallas Avionics will hold an operators’ class for aircrew using Technisonic radios, with emphasis on the 9000 series, Anodyne Electronics Manufacturing (AEM) equipment, and Jupiter Avionics Corporation devices, on 15 July 2026, at the Airborne Public Safety Association (APSA) APSCON annual conference.

The course is designed to enhance radio operator proficiency, refresh skills, and address questions using hands-on equipment provided for each participant. The curriculum includes code plug discussions and user options aimed at reducing workload and improving aircrew efficiency. Troubleshooting, common misdiagnoses, and operational trends observed by Dallas Avionics and sister company Radio Masters will also be covered.

“Having effective communications is vital to the success of any aviation mission,” said Dallas Avionics Government Agency Sales Executive Cody Klaehn, a Retired Texas Department of Public Safety Aircraft Tactical Flight Officer Training Lieutenant. “We have observed some operators sending in radios and equipment for repairs that can be avoided by making simple changes to their radio settings … We wanted to offer this training course to help law enforcement units save time and money while reducing AOG.”

The course will be taught by industry veteran Scott Hurst, US Air Force Avionics Specialist, and Aaron Swansson, Manager of Radio Masters.

AEM recently announced that it was supplying radios for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection’s aerial firefighting fleet.
