DART receives updated STC from FAA
DART Aerospace received an amendment for its Supplemental Type Certification (STC) for its H145 Fire Attack System (FAS)
The amendment, given by the US Federal Aviation Administration, expands the range of H145 models that the FAS is installable on to include the D-2 and D-3 variants. Previously, the system was only approved for installation on the C-2.
The FAS is an aerial firefighting system designed to be installed on the underside of the H145, which features a foam system that can convert a 985-liter payload of water into fire-retardant foam, as well as two hydraulically actuated drop doors and a hover refill system.
The FAS is certified for day/night visual flight rules (VFR). DART added that the system can be installed and removed in less than 30 minutes.
Ryan Williamson, Vice President for Sales and Marketing at DART, stated that the company was ‘excited to receive the amended FAA certification’, and that ‘this is a direct response to strong customer demand for the Airbus H145 D-3’.
DART Aerospace acquired equipment manufacturer Paravion Technology and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) firm Century Helicopters in March 2022.
