Do228 NXT gains advanced real-time data transmission for special missions
New partnership enhances real-time airborne connectivity, enabling more effective coordination and decision-making across complex emergency and special mission operations
General Atomics AeroTec Systems has announced a strategic partnership with SVP Aerospace to enhance mission capabilities on the Do228 NXT special missions aircraft, focusing on advanced, reliable data transmission for operators across emergency and security sectors.
The collaboration integrates SVP Aerospace’s high-performance transmission technology into the Do228 NXT platform, enabling the transfer of up to four HD video streams or one UHD stream with low latency and strong signal stability. Operators will be able to transmit a wide range of mission-critical data, including live video, infrared imagery, coordinates, metadata, and still images, with flexible configuration of transmission pathways.
Three data link options are available: IP satellite DataLink for global coverage in remote environments; IP cellular DataLink, leveraging 5G networks for low-altitude operations; and a line-of-sight RF antenna system offering ranges of up to 160km. These systems can be deployed individually or combined, depending on mission requirements.
The enhanced connectivity reinforces the Do228 NXT’s role as a multi-mission platform, supporting operations such as search and rescue, maritime patrol, surveillance, and disaster response, where real-time data exchange is critical to mission success.
Airbus and Skytrac recently launched a real-time Helionix data solution for the H135, H145, H160, and H175.
