Entrol’s Bell 412 FTD Level 3 gains German certification with GHS

Entrol has strengthened its presence in Germany with the official flight training device (FTD) Level 3 certification of its Bell 412 simulator, operated by Global Helicopter Service (GHS), following a rigorous audit by the Luftfahrt-Bundesamt (LBA), the country’s aviation authority. This qualification positions the simulator as a key platform for advanced mission training.

Based on the Bell 412 helicopter, the simulator features an advanced cockpit configuration. Unlike software-only systems, it integrates original dual GTN 750 and 650Xi avionics units, enabling pilots to train using the same equipment found in operational aircraft and eliminating potential learning gaps.

The GHS configuration extends beyond conventional flight instruction. A mixed reality hoist operator station and external mirror system allow crews to rehearse rescue missions, while a geo-specific visual database of Germany, developed with high-resolution satellite imagery, supports realistic firefighting training. Crews can practice approaches and water drops in recognizable terrain, enhancing operational accuracy.

The simulator also features a 200x70° spherical visual system, integrated vibration for realistic flight dynamics, and an advanced debriefing station to support detailed post-mission analysis.

Entrol recently completed the factory acceptance test (FAT) for a Level 5 H145 FTD for New Zealand operator GCH Aviation.
