The company also announced plans to launch a new suite of drones within the next 12 months following the takeover

US law enforcement technology company Flock Safety has announced its acquisition of Aerodome, a drone as first responder (DFR) firm.

The takeover brings Flock into the drone sector for the first time, and will be used to enhance the company’s range of products for law enforcement.

Flock stated that the acquisition accelerates its plans to introduce a suite of National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) compliant drones within the next year.

The company added that in combination with its existing suite of solutions – including license plate recognition (LPR) cameras, gunshot detection sensors, and real-time crime center (RTCC) software – the DFR drones would allow agencies to identify and respond to threats more rapidly than ever.

“Anyone who’s seen a DFR program in action knows that this technology will play a central role in the future of public safety,” said Garrett Langley, Founder and CEO of Flock Safety. “By combining Aerodome’s best-in-class DFR technology with Flock Safety’s existing suite of rapid response solutions, we’re taking a big step forward in our mission to protect communities and eliminate crime.”

Oklahoma City – the capital of the US state of the same name – recently approved funds to expand its fleet of emergency service drones.
