Oklahoma City – the capital of the US state of the same name – has approved US$856,000 of funds for new emergency service drones
The funds will be allocated over the next five years, with 10 new drones being purchased each year. This amounts to a total of 50 new aircraft.
The drones are intended for use by Oklahoma City’s police and fire departments, and will join a fleet of 38 already in use in the city.
The new fleet will be used to act in a first responder role, providing vital information to first responders ahead of their arrival at the scene of an incident.
Drone manufacturer BRINC announced its new drone as first responder solution earlier this year.
