Germany-based Reiser Simulation and Training’s (RST) newest Airbus H135 full flight simulator (FFS) has been qualified to the highest standard Level D by the German Federal Aviation Office

Following its qualification, the modern FFS helicopter type H135 is now ready for training at Lufthansa Aviation Training (LAT) in Frankfurt, Germany. The simulator complements the H145 FFS D, which has been in operation at LAT since summer 2020. Smoothly exchanging the H135/H145 cockpits utilizing RST’s roll-on-roll-off system allows convenient application of both configurations within the same simulator. The holistic roll-on-roll-off approach can be adapted to any other rotary or fixed-wing platform.

The modern helicopter FFS H145/H135 is particularly suitable for training essential flight situations in a realistic atmosphere, including night flights, which is especially important as air rescue night missions are increasing. In addition, the FFS is equipped with a mixed-reality third crewmember station to simulate how to abseil from a helicopter with the entire crew. The simulator includes step two and three (switchable) of Helionix® in both configurations.

“Pilot training is of great importance for flight safety. Our approach is to specialize in the requirements of rescue helicopter crews that must be optimally prepared and thus trained for any situation in any weather,” said Dr Roman Sperl, CEO of RST. “I am very proud of the entire team who achieved qualification on first attempt. This simulator is proven to meet highest training standards and is even exceeding requirements given by EASA.”
