Japan Coast Guard orders three more H225s
Airbus has received an order for three more H225 helicopters from the Japan Coast Guard (JCG)
The order will bring the JCG’s total fleet size up to 18 H225s. The new aircraft will be used by the JCG to support “territorial coastal activities, maritime law enforcement, and disaster relief missions”.
The JCG previously received a batch of three H225s from Airbus in December 2023, and one in February 2024.
The H225 has a recommended cruise speed of 263 km/h, with a maximum range of 850km, and a maximum endurance of 4hrs 10mins with standard fuel tanks.
“The Japan Coast Guard has been an active operator of the Super Puma family helicopters for three decades. This follow-on order demonstrates the customer’s confidence in our products and the dedicated support to their fleet,” said Jean-Luc Alfonsi, Managing Director of Airbus Helicopters in Japan.
Elsewhere in the country, the Japan Critical Care Jet Network (JCCN) non-profit organization launched a crowdfunding campaign in November 2023 to lease a fixed-wing air ambulance.
