Jet Rescue Air Ambulance offers transport of Covid-19 patients
Jet Rescue Air Ambulance has announced that it is able to offer safe aeromedical transport of patients with Covid-19
In a press statement, the air ambulance service said: “This medical crisis presents us with a dynamic situation, and similar to dealing with SARS and Ebola, procedures and protocols will surely evolve as new information becomes available. Nevertheless, some issues remain a constant, and along those lines, we developed ‘common sense’ procedures for working with travel assistance organizations on Covid-19 transports.”
These procedures include that each case will be individually evaluated based on recorded symptoms and tests. Suspected cases will be treated as positive.
To ensure that patients will be okay in the isolation chamber, Jet Rescue Air Ambulance will semi-sedate them. After each case, the aircraft will be disinfected.
The air ambulance service said: “We cannot stress enough the importance of co-ordinating with local public health authorities, as neither the patient, nor our team and aircraft, should be left in limbo at the designated destination hospital.”
