Leonardo to supply training for remotely piloted systems

Italian manufacturer Leonardo has obtained an Authorized Training Organization Certificate for light drones for its Helicopter Training Academy
Leonardo is extending its training service capabilities to include rotorcraft unmanned aerial systems (UAS) to provide 360° training solutions. The company obtained an Authorized Training Organization Certificate for UAS and is now able to supply training services for light and very light remotely piloted systems. These will be used for Leonardo’s Helicopter Training Academy in Sesto Calende, in northern Italy.
The certification makes Leonardo the world’s first rotorcraft OEM with this capability, which allows the company to respond to helicopter operators who are increasingly using small UAS for their missions.
Leonardo is also developing a training package for the AWHERO RUAS. The training syllabus will go through solutions and methodologies available for piloted helicopters. Among the available services, a mission planning system tool, based on the Leonardo SkyFlight system, will allow customers to include one more operational service for the AWHERO.
