Manx Care renews contract with GNAAS

Manx Care, a government-run healthcare provider on the Isle of Man, has renewed its ‎contract with the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS)‎

The 12-month contract, which runs from 1 April, will see GNAAS continue to provide ‎emergency medical care and transfers to the UK by helicopter.‎

The UK-based air ambulance provider has conducted a total of 60 missions to the ‎island under previous contracts between March 2022 and December 2024.‎

The service had previously been in doubt, after Manx Care had stated earlier this year ‎that it would not be able to continue paying the full cost of the contract. The service was ‎initially funded through a Healthcare Transformation Fund until April 2024, but has ‎since then been paid for in entirety by the healthcare provider.‎

Teresa Cope, Chief Executive of Manx Care, said that she was pleased to have found a ‎solution able to sustain this “vital partnership” into the future.‎

It follows the awarding of a three-year contract to airline Loganair in February this year ‎for the provision of non-urgent patient transfer services to the Isle of Man.‎

GNAAS was the subject of AirMed&Rescue’s March 2025 Provider Profile.
