MightyFly awarded $50m medical logistics contract

Cargo electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) developer MightyFly has signed a US$50 million, five-year contract with a California-based healthcare diagnostics provider to supply same-day, expedited logistics of diagnostics test kits.

MightyFly, which did not name its healthcare partner, stated that the service would initially be rolled out in California, before being expanded to Nevada later, with an end goal of scaling up nationwide.

The company highlighted that unlike standard drones, its Cento eVTOL aircraft were capable of transporting “hundreds of test kits to and from multiple destinations on a single route”.

“Our mission is to provide efficient access to goods. In healthcare, that means enabling the most expeditious, accessible, and affordable care,” said Manal Habib, CEO of MightyFly. “With our Cento aircraft, we will deliver resilient, cost-efficient, and reliable expedited logistics at scale. With its 1,000-mile range and cargo capacities in the hundreds of items, our aircraft will transform expedited logistics and healthcare access.”

Thanks to the eVTOL, said Habib, “healthcare is no longer constrained by roads and runways; lifesaving supplies and critical goods can now fly everywhere, directly and efficiently”.

MightyFly recently demonstrated its eVTOLs to the US Air Force.
