MightyFly demonstrates autonomous eVTOL cargo aircraft for US Air Force
The live flight showcased the Cento’s autonomous flight capabilities and its patented Autonomous Load Mastering System (ALMS) as part of the AFWERX program
MightyFly has successfully demonstrated its autonomous cargo aircraft, the Cento, for the US Air Force as part of its SBIR Phase II contract under the AFWERX program.
Held at New Jerusalem Airport, the live flight showcased the Cento’s autonomous flight capabilities and its patented Autonomous Load Mastering System (ALMS). The aircraft performed a Department of Defense-relevant mission, including automated cargo loading, in-flight balance management, unloading, and multi-stop routing – all without human intervention.
The Cento transported two large boxes, autonomously loading and securing them before takeoff, flying to the destination, ejecting the packages, and continuing to a third site. The system also handled cargo representative of critical sectors such as healthcare, retail, manufacturing, disaster relief, and defense.
The demonstration aligns with a recent Presidential Executive Order supporting domestic eVTOL use for “medical response, cargo transport, and rural access,” strengthening MightyFly’s position as a strategic logistics provider. With hybrid-electric propulsion, minimal infrastructure needs, and low operating costs, the company aims to deliver efficient solutions for both commercial and defense missions.
Last year MightyFly received a flight corridor approval from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
