Momentum Aeronautics receives Brazilian approval for AT-802 float platform
The Brazilian civil aviation regulator has authorized the use of the company’s Heatwave amphibious float platform, which is designed for aerial firefighting operations
Momentum Aeronautics has received approval for its Heatwave amphibious water-scooping float platform from the Brazilian National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).
The float platform has been approved for the Air Tractor AT-802A, and follows similar supplemental type certificate (STC) authorizations from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
Heatwave incorporates a “single-scoop-safe” design, allowing for safe operation even if one of the scoops does not deploy. Additional features include optimized float positioning for stable water handling, forward structural reinforcement to better absorb large wave impacts, and redesigned nose landing gear system.
Heatwave stated that Brazil is a key market for its global expansion, allowing it to access operators across South America. The company will offer the product via its dealer, Frost Flying.
“This certification in Brazil is another step toward getting Heatwave into the hands of operators,” said Dan Garrett, President and Founder of Momentum Aeronautics. “We’ve put a lot into building a platform that performs where it matters, and we’re ready to see it go to work.”
DART Aerospace recently received STC approval from Transport Canada Civil Aviation (TCCA) for its Model 304 Fire Attack System.
