Navantia signs MoU with Alpha Unmanned Systems
The agreement will see the two companies work together to promote uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) in fields such as maritime security and search and rescue
Spanish firm Navantia has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Alpha Unmanned Systems to support the development of ship-borne uncrewed aerial systems.
The collaboration will see Alpha’s A900 UAV helicopter system added to Navantia’s technological portfolio, while working to enhance its systems capabilities and integrated naval solutions.
The partnership is intended to accelerate the adoption of uncrewed systems across the global maritime sector.
The A900 is designed to support a range of operation types, including maritime security and coastal surveillance, search and rescue, and anti-piracy. It can be equipped with a range of payloads, including electro-optical and infrared cameras, maritime radars, and communication relays.
“We are proud to partner with Navantia, a world leader in naval innovation,” said Eric Freeman, CEO of Alpha Unmanned Systems. “The integration of Alpha’s UAV systems into Navantia’s portfolio reflects our shared commitment to providing advanced and reliable unmanned solutions that meet the evolving needs of naval forces worldwide.”
Freeman spoke to AirMed&Rescue for our November 2025 issue about how uncrewed aerial systems could complement the work of helicopter crews.
