Aviation helmet manufacturer Paraclete Aviation Life Support secured certifications for two of its helicopter helmet models, the Aegis D Type 1 and the Aspida D Type 1, as set forth by the Department of Interior and the United States Forestry Services civilian helmet aviation standard

Paraclete also achieved its ISO 9001:2015 certification in December 2019 providing design, development, and manufacturer of Aviation Life Support Equipment, as well as education and training services.

"Our entire mission is designing aviation helmets with innovation, technology, and modern composites for the purpose of protection and comfort," said Paraclete President and Founder Scott Hedges.

A few years after his military retirement, Hedges envisioned his own company where he could 'bring the right minds and passions together to propel the aviation industry forward'. In 2014, three years after retiring, Hedges launched Paraclete Aviation Life Support.

Ensuring helmets are properly secured

With a natural transition in aviation equipment safety from military to entrepreneurial, Hedges now serves a similar mission, which is ensuring his rotor- and fixed-wing helmets are properly secured in the event of an accident.

"For a helmet to fit properly, the opening under the chin and back of the head should be small enough so the head cannot slip out," said Hedges. "This is in accordance with the US Army Aeromedical Research Laboratories Report No. 95-20, which is the helicopter helmet test authority for the US Army and most of the Department of Defense."
