Penn State Health Life Lion adds helicopter to Lancaster base
The Airbus H155 brings Life Lion’s Lancaster base to three aircraft, expanding dedicated medical capacity for pediatric, neonatal, and other critical care transfers across central Pennsylvania
Penn State Health Life Lion Critical Care Transport has added an Airbus H155 helicopter to its fleet, with the aircraft stationed at the program’s Lancaster, Pennsylvania, base.
The new helicopter brings Life Lion’s H155 fleet to three. The aircraft are among the larger air medical helicopters operating in the US state and feature cabins configured for advanced medical equipment, specialist clinical teams and, when appropriate, family members.
Life Lion said the aircraft was equipped with advanced avionics and instrument flight capabilities, supporting operations in conditions including low visibility and high winds.
“Critical care transport is about more than getting a patient from one location to another,” said Dr Chadd Nesbit, Lead Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Physician and Division Chief for Life Lion. “Our teams provide intensive, evidence-based care from the moment they arrive at the patient’s side until they reach the appropriate specialty center. Adding this aircraft strengthens our ability to deliver that care safely and efficiently.”
Life Lion serves central Pennsylvania and surrounding communities, providing access to trauma, stroke, cardiac, pediatric, and neonatal specialty care. Its network includes direct access to Penn State Health Milton S Hershey Medical Center, the region’s only Level I adult and pediatric Trauma Center.
