Peru acquires three new police helicopters
The Peruvian National Police (PNP) have received the first three UH-60 Black Hawks from a fleet of nine being donated by the US government
The aircraft, which were delivered to the PNP’s Decentralized Aviation Unit in Pucallpa, Ucayali region, will be used to strengthen the police department’s operational capacity.
In particular, they will serve to reinforce the PNP’s work fighting against drug trafficking in the country.
Under the terms of the agreement between the US and Peruvian governments, the USA will provide a range of support to the rotorcraft, including maintenance, technical advice, a management information system (MIS), training, and support equipment.
Peru will provide pilots, maintenance technicians, and administrative personnel to support the operation of the new aircraft.
The Military Police of Rio de Janeiro State, Brazil, also announced its acquisition of a UH-60 Black Hawk earlier this year.
