PHI Air Medical and Enterprise Rescue open new Monroeville air ambulance base

PHI Air Medical and Enterprise Rescue have launched a new air medical helicopter base in Monroeville, Alabama. This addition joins existing operations in Enterprise and Andalusia, extending emergency air transport coverage in rural regions of the US state.

The new base is intended to provide round-the-clock air ambulance services for Monroe County and the surrounding areas. Helicopters stationed at the facility are equipped for critical care, including carrying blood products for on-scene transfusions.

“The Monroeville base marks a significant milestone in our shared mission to move communities to health,” said Sam Marshall, Program Director at PHI Air Medical.

The collaboration between PHI Air Medical and Enterprise Rescue has been in place since 2022. Under this partnership, PHI supplies aviation personnel, including pilots and maintenance crews, while Enterprise Rescue contributes clinical teams with experience from its established ground operations.

“From day one, it’s been our combined mission with PHI to deliver lifesaving measures to those who need it most across south Alabama,” said Arnold Woodham, Chief Operations Officer at Enterprise Rescue. “We’re proud of the reputation we uphold at ERI in providing timely, passionate and expert care, and we’re thrilled to continue alongside PHI in this journey now in Monroe County and the surrounding area. From our roots in Coffee County with Air 1 just three years ago, our growth has been incredible thanks to a very large team of personnel, so this extension of our reach into west Alabama is further proof of our mission to continue serving these communities that need it most.”

Both organizations note that their joint program aims to improve access to emergency medical services in the region, regardless of patients’ insurance status.
