Reiser and Leonardo announce collaboration
The companies will co-develop a new-generation AW139 helicopter simulator
Reiser Simulation and Training, a developer of advanced flight simulation and training systems, and helicopter manufacturer Leonardo have announced a collaboration to co-develop a new-generation AW139 Level 3 flight training device (FTD) tailored for civil operations.
The simulators are aimed at operators with small to mid-sized fleets and are designed to provide a more accessible entry point into simulation-based training while maintaining high realism. The devices are intended to support in-house training, enhance flight safety, and improve operational readiness with lower initial investment requirements.
As part of the initiative, Reiser has signed a memorandum of understanding with UK-based AW139 operator HeliOperations to supply one of the new systems.
Reiser CEO Dr Johannes Hain commented on the partnership: “For REISER, this partnership and the development of another helicopter training device together with Leonardo marks an important milestone in the collaboration and extends the product portfolio by one of the most relevant helicopter types in the world."
Leonardo recently opened a maintenance base in southern Italy.
