Rostec offers Ka-32 upgrades in South Korea
New opportunities for aircraft avionics upgrades for South Korean state and civil operators
Russian helicopter airframe manufacturer Rostec has said it will give operators of its Ka-32 aircraft in South Korea the option of modernizing their machines, with upgrades to a glass cockpit, more powerful engines and a new firefighting system all on the table. The newly enhanced helicopters would be known as Ka-32A11Ms.
South Korea’s state agencies currently use the original Ka-32s for tasks including search and rescue, aerial firefighting and offshore maritime patrol and surveillance. Commercial operators, meanwhile, tend to use them for construction work or installation of large plant such as cranes.
