Skytrac selected for Alpine fleet upgrade
Canadian operator adopts scalable satcom solution to enhance connectivity, safety, and mission flexibility across a multi-role rotorcraft fleet operating in remote regions
Skytrac Systems has been selected by Alpine Helicopters to provide its ISAT-200A solution as part of a fleet-wide upgrade program, supporting the operator’s diverse and seasonal mission requirements.
Alpine operates a fleet of 39 rotorcraft, which regularly transitions between aerial firefighting, heli-skiing, forestry, mining, and other commercial roles. The company sought a scalable system capable of delivering communications, flight following, and data transmission in the near term, while allowing for future expansion.
The ISAT-200A is being installed across the fleet and will support operational and regulatory requirements, while enabling reliable connectivity in remote areas of Western Canada where VHF coverage is limited. Its push-to-talk functionality has already been demonstrated in-flight between aircraft and ground crews in British Columbia and Alberta, with further applications under evaluation.
“As an operator always looking to improve safety and efficiency, we’re excited to roll out the ISAT-200A across our fleet,” said Scott Hayward, Director of Operations at Alpine Helicopters. “We wanted a scalable, reliable solution… Skytrac’s support throughout installation and troubleshooting has been invaluable.”
Upgrades are largely complete on Alpine’s Bell 212 fleet, with further integration planned.
Skytrac and Airbus Helicopters recently introduced a new line-fit, real-time Helionix alerting solution for the H135, H145, H160, and H175.
