Smith Myers delivers first ARTEMIS system to 2Excel Aviation
The system will be integrated with mission systems on 2Excel aircraft
Aviation and aerospace services company and provider of special mission services 2Excel Aviation has added Smith Myers’ ARTEMIS system to its airborne capabilities.
Smith Myers has delivered the first of the ARTEMIS systems to 2Excel, to be deployed on aircraft based in Humberside. The announcement was made at the Multi-Mission Expo & Conference.
“This latest contract underlines the fantastic relationship we enjoy with 2Excel,” said Andrew Munro, Managing Director of Smith Myers. “ARTEMIS systems will be integrated with mission systems on 2Excel aircraft and support and extend existing capabilities.”
ARTEMIS turns any mobile phone into a rescue beacon, only requiring two antennas to generate a latitude/longitude fix at up to 19 nautical miles (35 kilometers), offering an alternative to traditional airborne sensors. Its features include:
- Texting and calls in no service areas
- Possible automatic cueing of electro-optical (EO)/infrared (IR)
- Deployment as a standalone with embedded mapping or integration with leading mission system providers
- Making missions in low light/instrument meteorological conditions (IMC) safer and increasing the odds for a positive outcome
- Available in several SWaP configurations for manned/unmanned platforms.
“Since inception 2Excel has built a reputation for being highly skilled at creating innovative solutions and quickly turning complex aviation concepts into leading edge capabilities,” said Andy Offer, Co-Founder and Director of 2Excel Aviation. “ARTEMIS provides an important capability across a number of contracts that demand fully optimized systems.”
