Smith Myers ARTEMIS mobile phone location and communications system

ARTEMIS will be installed in the airborne mission system

Smith Myers ARTEMIS mobile phone location and communications system has been chosen by Nova Systems to be integrated into the Nova Systems airborne mission system. This will be fitted onto the helicopter fleet deployed on the UK’s second-generation search and rescue (SAR) program, called UKSAR2G.

This contract builds on the existing UK Maritime Coastguard Agency (MCA) program with the addition of fixed-wing and uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) services.

It is a new 10-year contract that combines existing rotary and fixed-wing services into a fully integrated, innovative solution led by Bristow Helicopters that will ensure the continuation of critical lifesaving SAR aviation services across the UK.

Andrew Munro, Managing Director of Smith Myers, said: “We are thrilled to be selected by Nova Systems as part of their mission system for the UK MCA.

“ARTEMIS is a fully UK developed and produced technology, which has been recognized by the Royal Aeronautical Society with its Silver Medal award. Everyone at Smith Myers is looking forward with great pride, to ARTEMIS leading to more rapid, positive search and rescue outcomes for the UK MCA.”
