Smith Myers prepares modular ARTEMIS payload for UAV integration
A new modular payload compliant configuration from Smith Myers enables ARTEMIS integration across compatible UAVs and uncrewed platforms
Smith Myers Communications has announced plans to make its ARTEMIS airborne cellular detection and geolocation system available in a modular payload-compliant configuration, allowing integration with compatible uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) and other uncrewed platforms.
The development aligns ARTEMIS with the modular payload standard established by the US Department of War to support interoperability and faster technology integration across defense systems. Smith Myers said the configuration would enable operators to deploy the system across a broader range of platforms with reduced integration requirements.
The company said the capability was intended for defense, security, emergency response, and search and rescue missions where cellular detection and location data could support operations in remote or hazardous environments.
“Providing ARTEMIS in a modular payload-compliant configuration will significantly broaden the ways organizations can deploy this critical capability,” said Andrew Munro, Managing Director of Smith Myers Communications. “Operators will be able to integrate ARTEMIS more quickly and cost-effectively across a wider range of platforms.”
Last week, Smith Myers showcased the new configuration at APSCON 2026 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, as it expands options for operators seeking airborne mobile phone detection and geolocation capabilities for mission support.
