Spain renews SAR contract with Avincis
The Spanish government has extended its maritime search and rescue partnership with Avincis for a further five years
Aviation services provider Avincis was awarded a new €305-million, five-year contract by Spain’s Maritime Safety and Rescue Society (SASEMAR) government agency.
The contract will see the company continue to provide aerial search and rescue (SAR) services along the Spanish coastline from 11 bases in coordination with SASEMAR – a role it has served in for the past three decades.
Under the terms of the contract, the helicopters will be on call 24/7, all year round.
“SASEMAR is one of our longest-standing and most respected clients, and we are very pleased to have been awarded the latest tender for the helicopters providing part of their aerial service,” said John Boag, Group CEO of Avincis.
Avincis also recently acquired two new H145 helicopters in air ambulance configuration, for use in Italy and Sweden.
