Spright receives Aero2 demonstrator
Dufour Aerospace has delivered an Aero2 X2.2 prototype aircraft to Spright, Air Methods’ drone operator subsidiary
The pre-production tilt-wing aircraft will be used by Spright for demonstration flights, ahead of the Aero2’s planned entry into the commercial market in 2025.
“Our demonstration flights in the USA will be the first time the Aero2 has flown outside of Switzerland, and our teams are confident in their ability to do so and demonstrate its capabilities,” said Joe Resnik, President of Spright.
Spright is expected to be a major operator of the Aero2 – the company signed a purchase agreement for up to 140 Aero2s in November 2022. This includes firm orders for 40 aircraft.
Dufour conducted a training session with a group of Spright drone pilots in Zurich this summer – ‘familiarizing them with the tilt-wing aircraft in a multi-week training activity’ that included ‘simulator sessions [and] real-world flights’.
The announcement follows an order from Swedish firm European Medical Drone for 11 Aero2 drones – including 10 commercial versions due for delivery in 2026, and an X2.3 prototype due for delivery next year.
