Teledyne FLIR and Gremsy launch NDAA-compliant thermal drone payloads
A new collaboration between leading UAV and thermal imaging specialists is set to advance drone-based situational awareness with compact, high-performance thermal payloads for critical missions
Teledyne FLIR OEM has announced a new collaboration with Gremsy, a developer of professional uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) gimbal systems, to introduce two new National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) compliant aerial payloads – ORUS-L and Lynx – both powered by Teledyne FLIR’s Boson+ long-wave infrared (LWIR) camera module.
The partnership brings Thermal by FLIR technology to Gremsy’s latest payload range, designed for demanding intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) and public safety missions. The International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) free, size, weight, and power (SWaP) optimized Boson+ module provides high-performance thermal imaging for day and night situational awareness across drone platforms.
“The collaboration with Gremsy reinforces Thermal by FLIR’s role in enabling advanced, NDAA-compliant payloads for professional users,” said Jared Faraudo, Vice President of Product Management at Teledyne FLIR OEM. “By integrating Boson+ into Gremsy’s innovative spherical designs, we’re helping operators achieve superior aerial intelligence.”
The Lynx NDAA payload is an ultra-compact ISR solution optimized for efficiency and endurance. Combining thermal and visible imaging, it delivers enhanced capability for time-critical missions such as public safety, drone-as-first-responder (DFR) operations, and defense applications.
Meanwhile, the ORUS-L NDAA represents Gremsy’s first artificial intelligence (AI) powered spherical payload. Built around the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX platform, it supports object detection, target tracking, and autonomous analysis in real time. The IP55-rated system can operate at speeds of up to 100km/h and integrates electro-optical, radiometric thermal, and laser rangefinder sensors for inspection and emergency response use.

Teledyne FLIR OEM recently announced a partnership with Japanese drone manufacturer ACSL.
